The Burn Support Group ise extremely pleased to announce a new and exciting project for 2022.
As we are all aware, the original camp for 2022 sadly had to be cancelled and will resume in 2023. This obviously was unfortunate news to share, however it is a pleasure to invite your children to the alternative initiative. Looking to the future, and understanding the value and benefits of Camp Awhi, it has now been planned to take place during the July school holidays. An exciting schedule has been designed for a “Wonderful Winter Camp”, the venue is Taylor Lodge, Ohakune. Please find information on the dates and what is required from you when completing the application form. It is vitally important to note the changes in the application form and complete where necessary. We are all aware of the difficulties this year has provided for many. We certainly hope next year will bring on a new normal which allows everyone to reconnect, enjoy the snow and have a great time! Keeping very transparent, the lovely hosts of this Lodge have advised they do not have restrictions on vaccination, for the requirement of the Charity it is vital you complete #8 on page 6 of the application form. It is also advised that there is a definite number that can attend this camp, to ensure your child secures a place, PLEASE do not delay in returning your application. Regrettably parents shall not be able to attend this event, the Charity is very grateful for the wonderful leaders and support volunteer team that do ensure foremost the safety of all children attendees. Thank you to all for your support, understanding and cooperation towards this amazing event. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Michele at the office. Once we move into 2022, information regarding transport will be provided as with the list of recommended items to bring along. |

Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park The National Camp for New Zealand Burn Survivors Camp postponed until 2023
Five days of enjoyment, encouragement, inspiration and togetherness.
We encourage physical and social activities to develop self worth and confidence. Activities are designed to develop new skills, enhance campers current skills help campers overcome anxieties and to take home what they have learnt and incorporate it into their everyday life. What is Camp Awhi? Camp is a 5 day, sleep-away experience for children ages 7-17 who have had (suffered?) a burn injury. It is an opportunity for children to have fun, learn life skills, meet other burn survivors and share their stories. Although Camp Awhi campers are of varying ages, activities and groups are tailored towards each camper’s developmental needs. Awhi means to embrace and cherish. Our aim is to provide a safe, fun and supportive environment for everyone, to meet and share experiences. How much does it cost? NOTHING! Camp is FREE for campers. The Burn Support Group fundraise all year round to be able to cover the whole cost of camp. |
