Women's section from the Howick Club - $1500
The Charity sincerely thank Cathy Taylor and the ladies from the Howick Club for inviting us to join them in a fun evening of Housie. Burn Support Group were the very lucky recipients of an amazing donation, $1500.00. These funds were gifted to the 2024 Women's Retreat. Heather Stewart shared her journey as a burn survivor and spoke of the value that this event can benefit women who have sustained burn injuries. An evening of women empowering and supporting women with much merriment. Thank you to the friends of Heather who came along to support her and the Charity, everyone had a fabulous night!

Quota Papakura Presentation - 4 November 2022

It was an honour and a privilege to attend with Serena Rudd at the Quota group presentation.
This extraordinary group of volunteers have been tirelessly supporting the community and many organisations over a 47 year period raising a truly amazing sum of $530,000.00. Acting MC for the evening was Denise Webber, providing a wonderful insight to the many initiatives the group has been involved in. Along with many other fortunate organisations the Burn Support Group was awarded $3780.00, contributing to the 2023 Annual Children's Burn Camp and the Annual Women's Burn Retreat. The Burn Support Group sincerely appreciates this more than generous donation and look forward to providing information upon the completion of each event. It was lovely to meet those involved with Quota and hear of the terrific work and enthusiasm shared between the members. Wishing you all the very best for a prosperous and safe 2023. |

Outstanding generosity for NZ Burn Community... $90,000 raised by the very successful 2021 Telemarketing Campaign
Burn Support Group acknowledges and is extremely thankful for Southern Stars participation, hard work and support.
This funding allows the many initiatives to take place supporting burn survivors throughout the country, also raising the awareness surrounding burns. Burns can be a long arduous journey, changing the life of an individual emotionally, physically and psychologically. Burn Support Group aims to offer support in improving and empowering the lives of burn survivors moving forward in everyday life. The Telemarketing Campaign commenced on the 21 June - 6 August raising funds for the 2022 Annual Children's Burn Camp Awhi.

ASB Stadium hosts Bartercard Show

It was the first time Burn Support Group had attended the advertised Bartercard show, held on Wednesday 9th June 2021.
Along with many other businesses, organisations and the general public, we were able to promote and raise the awareness around the many support opportunities made available to the burn community. We would like to express our appreciation to Ross Hamilton, the Charity agent for Bartercard, his professional and prompt support is truly appreciated. 2020 Telemarketing Campaign
2020 has certainly been an unexpected and unpredictable year for us all. In light of these circumstances, once again the Southern Stars team, with the incredible support of the public and organisations throughout Auckland, raised and donated the very generous sum of $60,000.
On behalf of the Burn Support Group we wish to extend our appreciation for the hard work and the generosity of all those that contributed. These funds will benefit the Annual Children's Burn Camp and assist in numerous initiatives that the Burn Support Group provide annually. National Burns Centre, Middlemore Hospital will gain invaluable equipment for enhancing the journey of burn survivors during their hospitalisation. Congratulations to Vicky Hirst, lucky winner of the brilliant raffle supporting the 2020 Women's Burn Retreat.
A huge thank you to all those that purchased tickets, however there was only one winner on the day! Lara Lee - inspiring and courageous
Inspiring and courageous, young Lara Lee, for the second year running has held a fundraiser event at her school, Ruahine, in Dannevirke, raising $210.00 which was donated to the Burn Support Group.
Lara Lee has attended the Annual Children's Burn Camp for the past two years, building wonderful relationships, gaining valuable self-esteem and confidence whilst enjoying all the fun activities that are on offer. Successful 2019 Telemarketing Campaign partnered with Southern Stars Charitable Trust
A fantastic effort by Southern Stars team raising $107,000 donated to the Burn Support Charitable Trust.
The pantomime, ‘Aladdin’, took place with many children and their families attending.
With young burn survivors, Jessica Marginson, Jack Dragivich and Grace Neil taking the stage to thank and acknowledge Southern Stars for this massive effort. This amazing contribution will enable the Burn Support Group to continue supporting the burn community throughout New Zealand. Annual Burn Camp 2020 (numbers have increased again this year), is an invaluable project giving young burn survivors the safe haven required to build on confidence, self-esteem, and most importantly have fun whilst building new relationships to last a lifetime. An outstanding achievement which is truly appreciated.

Donation gifted to Burn Support Group

Thank you to fire fighter Michelle Hinton, Waikato for her continued support towards the Burn Community. $100.00 was donated to the Burn Support Group from the people of Netherville Retirement Village upon Michelle's presentation raising the awareness to home safety concerns fires/burns.
Netherville Retirement Village is a lifestyle village, located in Flagstaff, Hamilton. It has 103 retirement villas and a long waiting list, so they do not normally take enquiries.
Located in Hamilton, Netherville Village is described as "a modern retirement village originally created by Dutch settlers. It is now a community owned and managed by residents from many nations. A large community hall provides the centre for many recreational activities and there is a workshop well stocked with woodwork tools. Shops and public transport are close by, as well as riverside walks. Grounds are beautifully kept by contractors, and there is plenty of personal space to garden for those who wish to do so and there are plots available for more extended vegetable growing." Michelle spoke to 50-60 people about being fire safe in their homes; gave them advice on escape plans, safe cooking practices, heater and electric blanket safety. She also answered all their burning questions and also gave a bit of incite to what it’s like to be a fire fighter. |

Michele from Burn Support Group was fortunate enough to spend time with Sam in Hamilton where she quickly recognised the wealth of knowledge Sam has when discussing the safety required for homes when it comes to fires. The Charity are extremely grateful to be the recipients of this US$1,000 generous donation. Home Safety Networks Ltd works with American company Global Health & Safety which in turn are sponsors for the Phoenix World Burn Congress, an event that New Zealand representatives attend each year. Last Friday, 16 August 2019, we were lucky enough to welcome in representatives from the Burns Support Group to our Newstead office to accept LIC’s donation raised from the last CAZJ day.
The Burn Support Group, founded in 1984, aims to lower the incidences of burn injuries and educate people about burn prevention, while supporting and assisting people with burn injuries. A few ways they achieve this is:

Pageants of India NZ
Burn Survivors Sweeta Bajaj and Davinia Rowan were welcomed on stage after the final of the Miss India Worldwide and Mrs India NZ held in Papakura, on 27 July 2019.
Both ladies were handed a cheque with monies donated from all the lovely contestants taking part in the pageant. Burn Support Group wish to thank organisers of the pageant for nominating this Charity as the fortunate recipients, monies raised will contribute to 2020 Women's Burn Retreat. |

The Burn Support Charitable Trust wish to thank Southern Stars for the incredible sum raised through 2018 Telemarketing Campaign.
Thanks to the management and staff for their hard work - this is truly an enormous contribution which will benefit the Burn community throughout New Zealand. It was a great day spent at the Logan Campbell Centre, where over 1500 resource packs were provided to the many children that were entertained with an Alice in Wonderland pantomime. Jessica Marginson and Jack Dragicevich, both brave and confident young burn survivor children, were on hand to receive and thank all those involved with this generous donation. The Burn Support Group also wishes to acknowledge and thank the public, and the organisations that contributed to this event, your support gives us the opportunity to provide emotional and practical support to the many individuals/families and whanau who have sustained burn injuries. |

$1,420 raised by the Crouchman Family (May 2018)

Following some local networking and preparations, a very successful sausage sizzle was hosted by Anna Crouchman at her school, Leamington Primary School in Cambridge, on Tuesday 22 May.
Four local Cambridge volunteer firefighters (Leon Vincent, Pete Wright, Richard Crease and Marcus Tidd) all stepped out of their working roles to man the BBQ and ensured that 272 pre-ordered sausages were cooked and ready for hungry tummies by the time the lunchtime bell rang. Adrian and Suzanne Hodgson, owners of the local Good Union pub, very generously donated all the sausages and numerous bread rolls, topped up with some provided by Cambridge New World. Cambridge Hire Centre gifted the use of their large trailer BBQ along with the gas and utensils to sizzle all the sausages! Anni Peters and Kim Chapman (school parents) gifted their personal time and worked alongside Anna, David, Tracey and Max Crouchman (big brother), Adrian Hodgson and the four firefighters to make Anna's dream become a reality. |

The results were amazing and a total of $578.00 was raised thanks to the support and generosity of the school community. The event also afforded Anna the opportunity to distribute information and goodies from the Burns Support Group Charitable Trust to her school peers to help raise awareness about the prevention of and care of burns.
Financial donations were also received from local Cambridge businesses including Cambridge Real Estate (Suzanne Kirk & team), The Lime Group (Phil Caldwell & his team), LJ Hooker (Gerda Elliott) and from owners Richard and Jane Jacobsen of Leamington Freshchoice Supermarket.
After minimal financial outgoings, the combined funds raised culminated with a grand total of $1420.00 being raised and donated directly to the Burns Support Group Charitable Trust.
A huge heartfelt thank you is extended from Anna and her family for everyone's support and generosity in helping Anna raise funds for a charity that has provided her with support and continues to provide ongoing support and advice to burns survivors and their families across New Zealand.

What a way to finish the year 2017, receiving the exciting phone call and following on with a welcome tour through the offices. Michele along with Tracey Maree Houia and Jorja Sharp (burn survivors) spent the morning meeting and greeting with the staff discussing the initiatives and actions the Burn Support Group have visualised for the year 2018. The B.S.G Trustees and Board members wish to acknowledge this incredibly generous donation and Thank the Management and Staff for the support and contribution for the Burn Survivor Community. Thank you to the lovely ladies from the Pukeke Golf Course. It was a pleasure to be invited to spend time with the ladies golf section on a beautiful sunny day at a lovely venue. After a warm, comfortable conversation discussing safety hazards around the home, along with ways to decrease the unfortunate incidents that happen around the home, Michele was presented with a donation cheque for the amount of $450.00 gifted by the Women's section.

$8,995 raised at Quiz Night (Nov 2017)

Our recent Quiz Night was a fantastic success and a lot of fun was had by all. A total of $8,995 was raised and we'd like to thank all those who attended, along with acknowledging everyone who generously provided donations. Many thanks and appreciation to Melissa Stokes (Quiz Master) and Maria Stephens (Auctioneer) for their contribution to the night's success, and also to Brian Paladin, the music man. $125,000 donation from Southern Stars (Nov 2017)
An amazing effort for the 2017 Telemarketing Campaign carried out by the wonderful staff of Southern Stars and management Keith Slater.
An incredible amount of $125,000 was awarded to The Burn Support Group at the end of a two month campaign. This extreme amount of funding raised through the generosity of the public will contribute to the Annual Children's Burn Camp 2018, also providing valued equipment for the National Burn Centre (Middlemore Hospital) and Kidz First improving the quality of treatment. A huge thank you and true appreciation for this overwhelming donation. With this support the Burn Support Group can ease the burden of those affected by the trauma of a burn injury. This year as a fundraiser event the school held a fancy dress day and everyone had a lot of fun. Lara Lee Stephenson is a pupil at the school who has sustained burn injuries, since attending the Annual Children's Burn Camp, Lara and her family encourage awareness and promote the safety surrounding burns... This year with their support and the generosity of the public, $909.69 has been awarded to the Burn Support Group to assist with the funding of the Children's Burn Camp. BSG is extremely grateful for the continual support provided by The Warehouse Botany. (29 September 2017). 
Burn Support Charitable Trust wish to acknowledge and thank SFPE NZ for the wonderful donation of $540.00. These generous funds will assist with the promotion of Resources throughout New Zealand.
SFPE NZ is a chapter of SFPE US and is a an associated group in NZ comprising approximately 50 professional fire engineers who are members of SFPE US and approximately 150 Friends of the chapter such as architects and Council officers. Our purpose is “To advance the science and practice of fire protection engineering and its allied fields, to maintain a high ethical standard among its members, to develop fire protection engineering guidelines and standards and to foster fire protection engineering education. In accomplishing this purpose, the Society engages in activities that are educational, scientific, charitable or promote the practice of fire protection engineering. ” We are the Technical Interest Group of IPENZ (Institute of Professional Engineers NZ) for matters of Fire Engineering. The Chapter is frequently called upon to offer fire engineering advice to local Councils, MBIE or to other government bodies seeking assistance regarding fire engineering. Individual members of SFPE are also called upon to be members of NZ Standards committees, MBIE Working Groups and other such groups requiring a view from practising fire engineers. As a result of SFPE members gaining additional knowledge while taking part in these groups it was decided by the Exec to disseminate this knowledge to the rest of our members. Due to having adequate funds to sponsor the roadshow it was decided to donate the entry fees from the sessions in Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington and Christchurch. The Burn Support Charitable Trust wishes to acknowledge Sean Burrows (Store Manager) and Alan DePruin (Assistant Store Manager) from Mitre 10 Botany, for their wonderful gesture in donating a valued Garden Shed for the purpose of storing resources. This is certainly going to help by making possible storing all resources in the one area, with easy access. It is through the generosity of organisations like Mitre 10 that the Burn Support Group can continue assisting the Burn Survivor Community throughout New Zealand. 
THANK YOU TO THE MEMORIES OF ELVIS FAN CLUB INC (NZ). The Fan Club chose the Burn Support Group this year as their charity and generously donated $400. The cheque was handed over to our Administrator, Michele Henry, May 2016.
A beautiful basket of health products was raffled by Kaye @ HARDYS PAKURANGA from Feb to end or Mar 2016. All proceeds went to Camp Awhi 2017. The winner of the basket was a Pakuranga resident who wished to remain anonymous. Kaye raised $60.00 and donated products for our movie night goodies bag in April 2016. Thankyou Kaye!

Merchants Liquor Store, Chapel Rd, Dannemora handed over $104.00 to the B.S.G. Monies were raised from a donation box they provide to the public. Thank you to the management and staff for the support given to the Burn Community.

Burn Support Group wish to acknowledge and thank Thermal Solutions for their extremely generous donation of $1500.00. The management and staff chose the Annual Children's Burn Camp as the recipients of there donation. These funds will contribute to the sponsoring of two children to Camp MI, Taupo in January 2018.
Camp is an environment where kids can be kids, they are taught tools and strategies which will enhance their everyday lives. Southern Stars Charitable Trust is dedicated to providing a better life for special needs and disadvantaged children in New Zealand. Their Telemarketing Campaign is currently underway (2 August - 29 September 2017) to help raise awareness and support the ongoing work of the Burn Support Charitable Trust.

Six Year 6 entrepreneurs from Baverstock Oaks School raised money for The Burn Support Group through a Bake Sale. Over two days these girls baked delicious treats and sold them at school. They raised $128.10 which they donated to help burn survivors and to support the annual Children’s Camp. A BIG THANK YOU to Alicia Steele, Bettina Labnotin, Elsa McCormick, Keira Fennessy, Yaseen Karimi and Diya Patel for a fantastic effort. It’s wonderful to see such compassionate people at such a young age.

MISS NORTH HARBOUR, BROOKE HOUIA SUPPORTING THE BSG. Brooke wrapped lots of Christmas gifts at the Botany Warehouse in Auckland on 16 & 22 December 2015. All gold coin donations went toward funding Camp AWHI, held in January 2016.

A massive THANK YOU to the HAMC Nomads who donated their proceeds from their Dice Run (2015) to the Burn Support Group. This is an annual event, where hundreds of bikes ride in convoy on a designated route.
