My son received a boiling water burn injury to his face and chest when he was 2 years old.
He was fortunate enough to attend the 2021 burns camp, the experience with others and friendships are invaluable. The Burn Support Group is an exceptionally worthy organisation helping children live with these injuries and really boosting their confidence. My business is very happy to donate to help the group continue to help survivors that can benefit from their amazing support. Mike Horner, Delwyn and Owen |
Every year, NIB employees play a crucial role in nominating and voting for six charities to receive our $5,000 Good Cause Grants, aimed at supporting the health and wellbeing of the communities where we live and work.
This year, we received 55 nominations and almost 1,000 votes from our employees based in Australia and internationally. This year the New Zealand Burn Support Group is one of our Good Cause Grant winners, nominated by NIB Customer Administration Team Leader, Tayla Henry. “I advocated for Camp Awhi provided by the Burn Support Group to receive the Good Cause Grant because it offers a transformative experience for young burn survivors. As a support person at the camp, I've seen firsthand how these kids grow in confidence, learn new skills, and form meaningful connections in a nurturing environment. This camp is a vital resource that helps them embrace life with joy and resilience.” Burn Support Group is a New Zealand based charity that is committed to reducing burn injuries and enhancing care within the community. They achieve this through educational seminars, active participation in community events with essential resources and partnerships with organizations such as the NZ Fire Service. Additionally, they distribute free educational materials to schools, offer support to burn patients and survivors through necessary equipment and community reintegration programs, and establish networks for ongoing support and prevention. The $5332.31 Good Cause Grant donation will enable 5 children to attend Camp Awhi, a five-day program designed for ages 7-17 who have endured and survived burn injuries. This camp aims to cultivate confidence, impart life skills, and foster a supportive community among survivors within a safe environment." - Tayla Henry |

Here at Hubbards we are an innovative and passionate bunch! Passionate about breakfast and people.
To reflect this passion, we are very proud to have newly launched Hubbards Heroes. An initiative framed around our Inspiring Possibilities. Inspiring people to be curious, proactive about life, push boundaries and reach for goals. We will put a call to nominate out on our social channels, to announce the chosen Hubbards Hero bi-monthly. We're looking for the unsung hero - someone who's doing good. They could be giving their time to help others, fostering animals, planting trees, rallying donations for a good cause or maybe they're building a community garden. Whatever it is, we want to help them with $1000 to continue their mission and showcase what they do, because we have pretty epic people here in NZ and we reckon it's time to showcase them. Our April Hero is the Burn Support Group. We have a reel that is live on our socials of Michele giving us some insight into the support group and what they do. Anna Shew, who is a Hubbards Product Development Technologist, regularly volunteers at the Annual Children's Camp Awhi and brought Burn Support Group to our attention and it made sense that they be our very first Hubbards Hero. Our Sincere appreciation and privilege to be the first recipients of this generous donation. This funding will contribute to the 2024 Camp Awhi. Hubbards continues to support the Charity with the offering of products for the camps and retreats offered Annually. THANK YOU to Anna Shew, an amazing young lady who provides her time volunteering at the Camp and does such a fabulous job, the Charity appreciates all that do and for sharing the Charity with Hubbards. |
