This year saw the highest number of attending burn survivors at Camp!
With 33 children from throughout New Zealand along with 4 leaders and 4 support volunteers, an action packed schedule was enjoyed by all. Camp is not possible without the support of the many organisations, sponsors and fundraising events that contribute to funds enabling each year the invaluable camp to take place.

Burn Camp Poem Eastern Beach 2021 Our local MP, Mr Simeon Brown Arrived in to welcome us, to his home town Then fun on the jetski’s proved, quite a blast Zooming along, really ever so fast! Some tipped out of the biscuits and got really wet Would we do it again? On that you can bet! If it hadn’t been for sunblock - we’d have all been soooo pink President Nick got up on his ski’s - and then went into the drink! Followed by fritters and fries, as we sat on the beach Enjoying the view - there was plenty for each. Tracey came in, with paints, brushes and all We now all have paintings, to proudly hang on our wall Bowling and slots and bumper cars too Then it was off to the park for pizza and juice Great fun on the ice was had by us all With the exception of Lily who did have a fall The Escape Room for the older ones, they did enjoy To exit it though, brain cells they had to employ! Out into a canoe, with their Iifejackets donned, Yet another event, with each other to bond Ambassador Jim, for Bingo came in Prizes for all when a line they did win The Police dogs amazed us with their incredible skill No other animals could indeed their shoes fill A great day was had, at Rainbows End All tired but happy, as back to camp we did wend But we decided to go via Denny’s for dinner After which we all then agreed, was an absolute winner! Then six Harleys rolled in with a hiss and a roar Leaving us finally, we all wanted more! Out on the harbour, we went out in a boat Happy to be there, on the ocean afloat Then off to the pools right there at Parnell So many adventures - to our families we’ll tell Michele, you have truly, done it again A fabulous camp - truly 10 out 10! You’ve been ever so busy tending to, our every need Making sure we are happy - and you do it all at great speed! We hope you have all, had trunk loads of fun Now that camp is almost over and soon will be done We're homeward bound soon - to our family and friends But there’ll be camp again next year, where the fun never ends! Don’t forget now - wear your scars with MUCH pride DON’T even think they are something to hide They show everyone just how brave and courageous you are In comparison to others - you’re quite beyond par! We know that ‘life’ CAN be hard for you, sometimes, quite full of strife But go out now, KNOWING we love you - and live your BEST life! Poem by Delwyn Breslau 25 January 2021 |
