All of us adults (like you), wait for camp all the year
Because to all of us, YOU, have each become dear
We all can’t believe how the year has just flown -
And we just cannot believe, how much you’ve all grown!
Mi Camp is where it’s at, this time of the year
With kayaks, Top Town, and heaps of fun gear
There was BMX, swimming and a great barbeque too -
A lake cruise and fishing - and an air brushed tattoo!
Yoga for adults, goodie bags for each kid
Bug spray for the mozzies - (from which we tried to get rid!)
Swimming was popular - as was the slide
Turangi firemen gave all a REALLY good ride!
Andrew and Karl, their burn stories did tell -
Inspiring each one of us - to really excel
6D cinema, and mini golf - cool memories to make . . .
and posing a great photograph, in front of the lake
Dinner at Cobb and Co was, SIMPLY great -
Spectacular cocktails - as we each cleaned our plate
De Bretts Hotel spoiled us really, - quite a lot
With a great barbeque and pools beautifully hot!
Quad bikes for the older ones proved - quite a hit
Then the talent show featured us, all doing our bit
Keep in touch with a text message, and Facebook too -
Because the good friends we make here will ALWAYS be true
Showing your scars is not always easy to do -
Just know that we’re all here, to help support you . . . .
We’ll NEVER stop people taking the time to stare
But whatever you do - you must NEVER despair!
Be proud - STAND TALL!
You came through it all -
An amazingly brave hero - YOU, truly are
And to us you’ll always be, - OUR BIG SHINING STAR!

Members of Turangi Fire Brigade had the great pleasure of spending two afternoons with some amazing people. The Burn Support Group Charitable Trust, Inc. held their National Camp for New Zealand Burn Survivors at Mi Camp, near Turangi. The purpose of this camp is to encourage physical and social activities to develop self worth and confidence amongst children aged 7-17 who have suffered a burn injury. It is an opportunity for children to have fun, learn life skills, meet other burn survivors and share their stories. The brigade helped by providing man power, water and bubble bath for the camps water slide for the kids to have some fun.
