Camp Awhi 22 – 26 January 2021 Willowpark Christian Camp, Eastern Beach, Auckland

This year saw the highest number of attending burn survivors at Camp! With 33 children from throughout New Zealand along with 4 leaders and 4 support volunteers, an action packed schedule was enjoyed by all. Camp is not possible without the support of the many organisations, sponsors and fundraising events that contribute to funds enabling each year the invaluable camp to take place.

This year Burn Support Group would like to make mention and express there gratitude to: LIONS FOUNDATION, THE HOWICK LOCAL BOARD, SOUTHERN STARS and KARL AND JAN BRANNIGAN – your sponsorship is truly appreciated. Each year brings our familiar faces and the newbies, the wonderful friendships that are made and the many memories to be shared are humbling to see, these inspiring young individuals are provided with an environment to feel safe, activities to bring smiles all while being supported by the fabulous, committed and dedicated volunteers. Our sincere appreciation to: AROHA ANDREWS, TAYLA HENRY, NICK NEILSON, MARIE-CHARLOTTE NAHE, TROY HALL, JAYNE SWINBURN, HOLLY TIMMS & BRIANA MELDRUM. This year is very special with the graduation of BRAYDEN HANNON, JORJA SHARP and GILAD RAISUN. These three have attended camp up to the age of 17 and will be moving into leadership roles in the future. Their participation and attitudes are to be commended, they are true assets for the younger children and it has been a pleasure for all to see the growth, confidence and personalities evolve during there time at Camp Awhi… It truly was the year for JESSICA MARGINSON, and it was wonderful to see her mum Angela, watch on as she received Alan Breslau’s book, won Grant A Wish and was in the trophy winning team. A very big congratulations from us all. Jessica is in the top New Zealand Ten Pin Bowling players and Burn Support Group will be supporting her in the upcoming tournament.
