A Taste of Europe

Posted December 1st, 2006

The annual "Friends of Burn Support Day" was held at the NZ Fire Service training facility at Mt Wellington recently. This is usually a low key time of getting together and catching up with the many people who are associated in some way with Burn Support.

About 20 folk gathered in lecture room number two thanks to Dennis Thomas's (Centre Manager) good graces. The lecture room was transformed into a type of advertisement for Europe and was the venue for animated conversations while nibbling away at cheese and crackers and the occasional sip of the fruit of the vine.

A "rush" copy of our new Burnwise DVD was viewed and an explanation of the direction for the next year was given by Vera.

Two Swedish Doctors, a man and wife team, were guests who attended with Colin Duncan from Eureka Motors. They, along with Peter had just retuned from sailing and were both intrigued and complimentary of the content of the DVD. After Vera's talk and viewing of the DVD more serious attention was given the food but still, a considerable amount was left over. Some of this found its way to the on duty crew at Mt Wellington Fire Station.

Our thanks go to Vera and Karen who put in so much work to arrange another event that everyone was pleased to attend.
